Hey Founders et. al.
I want to take a moment to reflect a bit on the first month of publishing this newsletter. A few cool notes:
In one month, we’ve grown to just under 150 subscribers. What?! We’re not quite Morning Brew, but I’m so grateful for those who’ve subscribed and continue to read this newsletter.
We’ve covered some fun legal topics, including (Contracts, Tax, Marketing, IP, Privacy, Fundraising, Foreign Founders, and more Tax). Who needs coffee when you’re waking up to this?
We’ve highlighted some amazing tools for founders to help navigate legal matters.
We’ve highlighted a bunch of awesome attorneys who come personally recommended from our reader base.
But not everything is roses. With the wins in mind, I’d like to also talk about the struggle too. Writing is hard. Sometimes coming up with topics to write about is the hardest part. I’m thankful for the help I’ve gotten this month from Preksha Diwakar and Sam Henze. Preksha is a student at National Law University in Jodhpur (India) and has been hugely helpful in putting together these newsletters. Sam is a 2L at Berkeley Law and an absolute force to be reckoned with. Also, I’ve had some incredible editing help from Sarah Dunn (my fiance) and Mali Apple. These newsletters would not be possible without all of them.
Moving forward. As we transition to a week off for a little spring break, I’d like to ask the audience for a few things:
What topics would you like us to cover? Drop a comment in the comments section or email me at brian@heycounsel.com.
What lawyers have you really enjoyed working with? Fill out this form and make someone’s day! I won’t publish any spotlight without reaching out to them first.
Most importantly - please provide us candid feedback. What do you like? What don’t you like? What else would you like to see? We are toying with ideas to make this newsletter more valuable to our readers, but we’d love to hear what you have to say. Give us a shout in the comments or shoot me an email.
Anyways, that’s all for now. Our next article will come on the first full week of April.
See you on the flip-side.
Brian
p.s. now is a great time to share with other founders, startup lawyers, or anyone who may benefit from reading a bit more about the legal side of startups. We have some great stuff coming down the pipeline. Please forward this along to your network, it means a whole lot
